About the Department

The Research Analyst will join a dynamic lab investigating the genetic basis of evolutionary innovations in both model and non-model organisms, including zebrafish and sea robins. The lab operates year-round at the University of Chicago, with an exciting summer field season at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA (https://www.mbl.edu/). This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in laboratory management, animal husbandry, and independent research using molecular biology and genetics, while working as part of a collaborative research team.

This position will begin March 1, 2025.

Job Summary

This position will begin March 1, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lab management, including ordering supplies, maintaining inventories, and keeping the lab organized.
  • Perform fish husbandry, ensuring the care and well-being of research organisms.
  • Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in biology, genetics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Previous laboratory research experience (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, or animal husbandry) is highly preferred.
