At RWE Clean Energy (RWECE), the Senior Associate, Controlling - Long-Term Strategic Planning is responsible for the ongoing preparation and delivery of the company’s long term business plan and capital plan. This involves shaping the company’s overall business strategy, developing strategic plans and assessing company performance by region and technology, as well as conducting research and data analysis to inform business decisions. Working as a strategic partner and trusted advisor with the business, Controlling evaluates improvement measures, actively gives recommendations / appropriate challenge, and business decision support.
Responsibilities:
Support in planning and preparation of the annual capital allocation and long-term budget which includes working with various stakeholders to ensure timely, complete, accurate, high-quality reporting/planning and prepare materials for and support meetings with Senior Management
Lead the financial modelling for the annual capital allocation and long-term budget; Provide various financial reporting and
Support in impairment reporting, forecasting and stress testing of the existing portfolio
Develop financial models for evaluating capital investments, and pricing sensitivity analyses
Coordination and teamwork: As a primary contact within the Controlling RWECE (FP&A) team, coordinate overarching topics and related financial impacts across the business
Management communication: Prepare materials for and support meetings with Senior Management and the Board for both regular reporting activities and special projects/topics
Continuous process improvement: Support proactive pursuit of best practices, processes, standardization and tools that drive gains in efficiency, automation, and quality
Ongoing initiatives, Integration and change management: Support company-wide top priorities and goals, special projects, and integration activities following recent organization structure change and acquisition
People and communication: Support growth and development of the team and how we work together locally and globally
Support of controlling processes and tools for new projects, including the establishment of projects, the establishment of companies involving accounting and IT support, if necessary
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics/Business (required); Advanced degree is a plus, but not required
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Accounting, Controlling, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial or Management Consulting, or other Finance-related fields; Renewable energy and/or Accounting Big Four experience is a plus, but not required
Analytical and proactive problem-solver
Financial project and portfolio valuation knowledge
Strong Excel modelling proficiency
Self–starter, able to work independently and in a team environment
Works well in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills, build cross-functional relationships
Continuously looks for process improvement
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with Senior Management
Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
Systems and tools: Excel (moderate to advanced), SAP (moderate), PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, other system/tools experience is a plus
Working experience in energy industry and with renewable energy financial structures, including tax equity and financial modelling is a plus
Experience in long-term economic modelling is a plus
Experience working in a global organization is a plus
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $108,000 - $162,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
