Within the Project Procurement team, we are seeking a Senior Procurement Manager with expertise in tendering, negotiating and executing Engineering, Procurement and Construction contracts to support Wind, Battery Storage & Solar Projects . The Senior Procurement Manager will also be responsible for project planning critical procurement activities to ensure they are completed in time to support project approvals and completion dates.
Capture business demands and handle competitive tendering, negotiation, and contract execution for wind, stand-alone battery storage projects as well as stand-alone solar and co-located battery storage and solar projects.
Responsibilities:
Review and level vendor proposals and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and mitigate complex risk through negotiation of applicable terms and conditions
Understand and maintain knowledge of the wind, battery storage, and solar EPC construction services market, and develop and implement strategies to ensure a cost-effective supply of EPC services to meet the build plan
Assist with input of CAPEX budget numbers to financial models to support project viability assessment
Collaborate and build relationships with the development, construction, and engineering leadership teams to support demand forecasting and contracting strategies tendering and contracting strategies to support RWE CE’s Growth Target
Manage documentation, budgets, schedules, and key stakeholder interfaces in preparation for weekly management meetings
Identify and run due diligence on potential new suppliers
Act as the single point of contact to suppliers in the sourcing process and coordinate interfaces with RWE’s Business, Finance and Commercial, Technical, Legal and Health and Safety Teams
Manage the full sourcing process (including demand/market analysis, RFI, RFPs, Negotiations, Contracting, and Supplier Awarding) in close collaboration with key stakeholders and in line with RWE policies, procedures, and processes
Ensure deep knowledge of projects in the region of work & develop procurement plans to ensure goods and services are secured at appropriate times. Work closely with Pre-Construction & Development functions in developing these plans
Guide and support stakeholders with any contract implementation, contract management, or supplier-related issues
Maintain active pricing history and data for wind, battery storage & Solar EPCs
Manage purchase orders, variations orders, invoice workflow, and documentation in SAP
Qualifications:
Bachelor`s degree with a preference for Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, or Business Management
Minimum of 12 years of experience in Procurement
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Renewable Energy Industry with a focus on negotiating Wind, Battery Storage, and Solar EPC contracts preferred
Thorough knowledge of the competitive bid process of BoP, EPC contracts, and negotiation techniques
Experience in drafting, negotiating, and contract management of high-value and high-risk major construction project contracts
Experience in drafting and implementing Project Procurement Plans for projects in regions of responsibility
Knowledge (suppliers, markets, trends) of the renewable energy industry
Experience in applying efficient procurement processes, structures, and analytical tools
Highly developed analytical and communication skills, combined with a structured work style and a pragmatic hands-on approach
Ability to challenge “conventional” thinking, consider others’ views and convince with facts considering a proactive approach to overcome resistance
Strong eye for detail and ensuring accuracy in the exchange of information and contracts
Team player with strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
Experience and willingness to work independently in a fast-changing environment and an international team
Sound knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP. Ability to learn new systems and tools rapidly
Readiness to travel both nationally and internationally
This position is a hybrid role with an expected 3 days in either the Chicago, IL or Austin, TX office each week with some travel to other RWECE offices.
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $118,000-178,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
