Optiv Sr. Consultant | Data Governance, Privacy and Protection | Remote, USA in Chicago, Illinois

This position will be fully remote and can be hired anywhere in the continental U.S.

Our Senior Consultants are skilled technical and consultative resources expected to be strong in both technical and soft skills. A Consultant must be a proven self-starter with the ability to problem-solve, communicate, participate in diverse project teams from a technical perspective, and interface effectively with customers, vendor partners, and colleagues. Establish & maintain productive and respectful relationships with the delivery team, practice management, and client management team.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Support clients with designing, deploying, and managing security solutions to enable and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data

  • Develop technical and functional requirements, evaluate a myriad of security solutions and vendors, develop optimal security architectures, and test the effectiveness of data security processes, procedures, and technologies

  • Design and advise on solutions across the web, application, and data tiers inclusive of cloud and vendor-specific solutions

  • Advise on a wide range of security architectures for both cloud and on-prem environments

  • Contribute to Optiv’s thought leadership and unique methodology to not only our clients, but also the wider security community

  • Operate, both independently and with a team, as a cybersecurity technical SME

  • Stay informed with industry trends, best practices, and new innovative solutions as it relates to data security

  • Adapt and overcome unfamiliar security challenges through client experience, self-study, and Optiv-provided training material

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree and approximately 5-7 years of related work experience

  • Candidates must be willing to travel 50% for the first 4-6 months, after this time period travel is expected to taper down

  • Candidates must be willing and able to tour client facilities (factories, distribution warehouses, offices, etc.) and document observations. Client facilities may be expansive

  • Knowledge of general security concepts and methods such as data classification, privacy assessments, incident response, security policy creation, enterprise security strategies, architectures and governance

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance issues affecting clients related to privacy and data protection, such as PCI DSS, GLBA, Basel II, EU Data Protection Directive, International Cross Border, and U.S. State Data Privacy Laws

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview E5 highly preferred

  • Strong experience in data classification, data governance, and/or AI risk management, AI compliance requirements and large language models (LLMs)

  • The ideal candidate will understand a wide range of technologies, global security and compliance frameworks to identify risks, identify value and opportunity, and focus on building and delivering governance and compliance capabilities to secure and manage data governance and/or privacy enhancing technologies

  • Candidates must have a strong aptitude for learning and communicating perspectives on data governance, data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, etc.

Salary Range Description

$116,500.00 - $156,000.00 Annual

The Hiring Range provided for this role is informed by (but not limited to) various factors including responsibilities of the position, work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, geography, as well as other market influences when extending an offer. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for these factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a variable incentive-based bonus plan. Optiv offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, of which salary is a component.
