Buyer

You will play a key role in developing and supporting business strategies as part of the CW Fleet Solutions and support the team in securing commodities and services that support our projects and product lines. This position is a critical role within the organization and requires an individual who possesses strong problem-solving and excellent communication skills, and someone who will take ownership to lead and drive change for continued success.

Location: Chesapeake, VA/Chula Vista, CA

Salary: $55, 900 - $80, 700

Your Challenge

  • Continually promote and drive improve supplier and business performance improvement

  • Support, maintain, and improve purchased commodities and services strategy in accordance with annual and long-term goals and objectives

  • Support business financial performance.

  • Evaluate and/or develop policies and procedures for the continuous improvement of procurement activities

  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure OTD and Quality performance meet expectations

What You Bring

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain security clearances

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing and/or Supply Chain experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Defense industry procurement is strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Government contracting practices, including hands-on experience with FAR/DFARS, contract negotiations, and related laws and regulations

  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, and logistics

  • Planning, negotiation, and execution skills essential, as are project management and strategic sourcing experience/skills

  • Demonstrated success in driving cost reductions and superior customer service

  • Lean and/or Six-Sigma experience and knowledge is preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop effective working relationships

  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, action-oriented, proactive, collaborative, and results-driven

The Fleet Solutions group provides turnkey overhaul / repair, testing, and parts sales for air compressors, main propulsion steam turbines, valves, steam turbine generators, auxiliary turbines, dehydrators, pumps, strainers, PLCs, blowers, and water purification.
