UC's annual budget stands at $1.85 billion, and its endowment totals nearly $1.8 billion. Job Overview UC HR is seeking an HR Business Partner to support multiple business units. This position will provide supervision and oversight of the Shared Services HR team, provide HR support, set priorities and drive organization values. We are seeking an HR professional who will align the people strategy with its business strategy as an administrative expert, people champion, and change agent. Essential Functions Serve as Subject Matter Expert for HR functions, define best practices, and manage and lead established processes for the HR Shared Services team.Serve as information resource and consult with leaders on HR policies, procedures, processes, and employee relations and performance management. Assess and anticipate human resources-related needs within assigned business unit(s) in the areas of talent and performance management, leadership development, workforce planning, succession planning, employee and labor relations, training objectives, career development and policy interpretation. Work with management and personnel to solve conflicts and help facilitate positive employee relations, maintain a good working environment, build morale, and decrease turnover. Assist with building and maintaining a strong organizational culture, as well as continuously improving the employee experience. Consult with management on complex employee relations issues. Assist management with assessment of performance deficiencies and development of plans to address issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations and pre-disciplinary meetings when necessary. Collaborate with business units to enable them to become future-ready by focusing on the existing workforce in the organization and preparing them for the future. Advise leaders on relevant employment laws and regulations, as well as other legal requirements regarding people management. Provide guidance on the interpretation of human resources policies for management and employees. Review and analyze human resources metrics on productivity, turnover, vacancy rates, employee engagement, etc., to identify trends, proactively assess the work climate, and create action plans with departments. Act as member of the HR Management Leadership Team support discussions and transfer best practices from different functions within the organization and manage the HR-related internal and external communication. Liaison and collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence on best practices and issues pertaining to internal and external business units. Proactively support the delivery of HR processes and best practices to the business units. Together with line managers, work on setting priorities, driving values, and delivering results. Must maintain confidentiality with high level of integrity. Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with UC's Records Retention Schedule. Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.)
