Job Purpose

Performs routine tasks in the design of new products and makes improvements to existing products. Learning to evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Work is overseen by leader to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular discipline. Resolves routine questions or problems, referring only complex issues to a higher level.

OPERATIONS

· Design electronic circuits for new and existing products.

· Provide technical support and work with cutting edge technology that will help to improve sustaining processes and procedures for electrical and electronic items.

· You will collaborate with members of the engineering staffing to ensure that projects/products are completed in a timely manner.

· You will make changes to hardware design and carryout testing/qualifications of these changes.

· Assist Manufacturing and R&M (Repair and Maintenance) personnel with resolution of technical issues.

· Research and evaluate suitable electronic subcomponent replacements as needed to support current and future products and sustaining projects.

· Responsible for designing and developing electrical systems including: PCB design with full details of the circuits, components, sensors and special layout requirements.

· Build and test prototype circuits to qualify the design, ensuring that the design requirements are met.

· Analyze down hole sensor data for the purpose of interpretation, issue resolution and improvement of the electrical system.

· Assist with the design for the downhole micro-controllers through liaison with the software department.

· Ensure electrical designs conform with applicable regulatory requirements.

· Create custom electrical schematics/wiring diagrams, bills of material, networking schematics, and any other items necessary for a system that conforms to customer specifications.

· Communicate with customer regarding scheduling, project progress, design questions, specification questions, customer changes, new project quotations and other items that may come up during the course of a project.

· Responsible for tracking customer requirements including specifications, deliveries, and other communications.

· Responsible for tracking project costs and selecting components that fit within project budget.

· Create both in-house and customer factory acceptance test procedures as required by customer contract/in-house test requirements.

· Perform testing in accordance with factory acceptance and in-house test procedures when needed otherwise ensure that testing is performed per procedures.

· Create field commissioning plan for equipment after leaving the facility.

· Provide continued support for projects after completion and field commissioning in the form of troubleshooting either remotely, or in person onsite when required.

· Generate work tasks, organize the ordering and delivery of equipment and materials, and facilitate the efficient assembly of the designed system.

· Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external

· Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports

FINANCIAL

· Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure

Experience & Education

REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college/university

· 2+ years of proven experience with electronics system design.

PREFERRED

· 4+ years of proven experience with electronic system design.

· Proven experience with equipment used in the drilling, marine, and mining industries.

· Experience with Altium or Siemens EDA.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED

· Work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and working on multiple projects simultaneously to meet challenging deadlines.

· Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to promptly give, and follow directions when working with others.

· Safely navigate the work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather).

· Proficiently use MS Office Suite to develop presentations, correspondence, reports, and schedules (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

· Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces

· Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas.

· Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and or machinery problems.

· Stay alert and focused including during occasional extended work periods.

· Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects including overhead machinery.

· Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.

· Ability to work on weekends and be on call after hours as needed.

Travel Requirement: This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to: <10%
