[General Responsibilities]{.underline}:
This is an advanced, skilled, mechanical position involving the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy highway equipment and construction equipment. The work is characterized by the degree of complexity, independence, and technical discretion. The work is performed under the direct/indirect supervision of the Shop Foreman and is reviewed for overall results. The employee uses considerable independent judgment in making decisions with the availability of supervision. This position requires travel and work out of town at job sites for an extended period of time. **Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures and standards.

Qualifications:
As an advanced level technician this position requires at least 5 years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, equipment and supplies specific to the diagnosis and mechanical repair of systems and components for a wide variety of heavy highway equipment and construction equipment is required. Advanced knowledge of the mechanical functions of all types of heavy highway and basic construction equipment. Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical/electronic systems common to the construction field. Ability to read, understand and carry out instructions from repair manuals. Ability to plan and layout repair and maintenance work independently. Ability to analyze, diagnose and correct mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and related failures and defects and overhaul components. Ability to remove, overhaul and reinstall engines. Ability to maintain routine work records. Ability to operate a wide variety of heavy highway equipment and construction equipment for road testing and operational checks. Skill in using hand and power tools commonly used in construction repair (e.g., electronic test equipment, hose machine, oxy/acetylene, welder, etc.). Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat and tanker endorsements.
