Environmental Resources Management, Inc. Consultant, Environmental Remediation Engineer (Mid-Level) in Cleveland, Ohio
ERM is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Consultant, Environmental Remediation Engineerto join our growing team in the Cleveland, Ohio office. Working under the direction of project managers and partners, the successful candidate will work on a wide variety of site investigation, remediation, compliance, and hazardous waste management projects throughout Midwest.
This opportunity includes projects that utilize ERM's technical experts to implement innovative and regulatory driven engineering and remediation technologies, unique subsurface contaminated site investigations, and complex wastewater compliance projects, all while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with remediation system operation and maintenance, construction, and subcontractor management.
- Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, remedial and wastewater treatment pilot tests, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
- Compile, analyze, and evaluate data; assist in report preparation.
- Prepare environmental compliance reports, engineering design reports, sampling and investigation work plans, quality assurance plans, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, stormwater, and wastewater.
- Develop health and safety plans including job hazard analyses.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
- Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
Lead multiple project tasks to support project management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's in engineering; Masters a plus. Or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant environmental experience including performing field work (e.g., environmental media sampling, construction oversite, etc.), report writing, and familiarity with state and federal regulations.
- Ability/interest to task manage and delegate.
- Strong work ethic and willingness/interest in field assignments.
- Detail-oriented with solutions and results-oriented aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- EIT certification preferred.
- Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
