Summary:
Assists Medical Assistant Interns in obtaining their goal of becoming a Certified of Medical Assistant by acting as an instructor for Medical Assistant Training Program courses, providing rich clinical experiences, and preparing interns to pass the certification examination. Provides medical assisting instruction appropriate to the standards and guidelines established by the program. Coordinates and evaluates the interns’ clinical instructional processes and activities. Maintains effective communication with applicants, interns, program leaders, and key stakeholders. Performs didactic instruction and evaluation for program courses. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Credentialed in Medical Assisting by a Nationally Accredited Credentialing organization. 3-5 years of experience in performing administrative and clinical procedures of medical assisting. In-depth knowledge of clinical practice and theory relative to the program. Coursework in education theory or techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in relevant educational or clinical discipline. Knowledge of adult learning theories. Knowledge of the Medical Assisting Core Curriculum. 3 years of experience in educational/training activities. Experience with the Epic Electronic Medical Record. Teaching experience.
Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
