Patrick Engineering Inc Intern Bridge Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

RINA is currently recruiting for a *Intern Bridge Engineer* to join its office in Cleveland or Columbus, OH within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division. *Mission* The Bridge Intern will assist with the preparation of structural design calculations, drafting, and structural bridge inspection. The Intern provides support in developing and evaluating structural alternatives, technical writing of reports and inspections of existing structures under the supervision of a licensed engineer. The Intern will work with other engineers on a project team while under the close supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer. They will receive training on the utilization of engineering theories/practices and exposure to RINA Company procedures. *Key Accountabilities*

  • Assist in preparing structural engineering computations, surveys, and designs under the supervision of a licensed engineer
  • Provide support in the preparation of material quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bidding documents
  • Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD to develop engineering drawings
  • Assist in the compilation of project contract documents, including technical specifications, design calculation, material quantities, estimate of cost, and other construction documents
  • Review of as-built drawings for existing structures to assist in understanding actual conditions prior to doing field inspections
  • Perform bridge inspections to document current structural conditions and/or determine potential repair alternatives
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Perform other duties associated with this position as may be appropriate

*Qualifications*

  • Pursuing an undergraduate engineering degree in Civil, Structural, or equivalent field of study from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • 50% local travel (i.e. job sites) anticipated based upon business need for the internship
