Cleveland Clinic Radiation Safety Technician in Cleveland, Ohio

As a Radiation Safety Technician, you will perform various field activities related to the safe and compliant use of radioactive material and other sources of ionizing radiation.

Responsibilities:

  • Receives, surveys, inventories, delivers, and ships radioactive material to end users.

  • Performs audits of radiation laboratories, radiation surveys, bio-assays and air sampling.

  • Perform radioactive waste collection, sampling, processing, monitoring and disposal.

  • Provides radiation safety support for radiation therapy procedures and for clinical/research use of radioactive material and ionizing radiation.

  • Assists with training new Radiation Safety Technologists.

  • Records and reports compliance activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's degree in engineering, biological sciences or related field.

Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's license (VDL) and obtain and maintain eligibility of insurability as determined by CCF's insurance carriers' requirements to operate CCF vehicles.

  • Depending on department needs, may be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's license with hazmat endorsement.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience :

  • Minimum of two years of experience in engineering or science fields may be substituted for Associate's Degree.

Physical Requirements :

  • Typical demands require full body motion including ability to lift up to 100 pounds and move up to 400 pounds.

  • The ability to utilize material handling equipment and climb ladders. Ability to wear level A personal protective equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.47

Maximum hourly: $23.61

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
