MISTRAS Group, Inc. Technical Service Specialist - PCMS in Cleveland, Ohio

Description

The Technical Services Specialist provides PCMS conversion and data-focused technical support to customers within the PCMS User Group. The position will be responsible for analysis, planning, mapping and migration of information from a variety of client databases into PCMS as well as facilitating updates to existing PCMS databases. The position should have a strong understanding of relational databases, a data integrity focus, and a passion for executing work in a thorough and efficient manner. Strong communication skills, technical expertise and data analysis skills will be required in this position. The position reports to the Technical Services Lead.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Support data migration projects from cradle to grave. Perform and support analysis of client data sources (typically, databases or spreadsheets), help define data mapping/data transformation logic, configure/implement migration logic, and execute migration of client source data to PCMS database format.

  • Gather/validate/understand requirements for updates to existing PCMS databases, generate/test/execute script to deliver required updates, and validate results to ensure that correct outcome is achieved.

  • Work with technical SMEs to ensure that data migration approaches and script-based PCMS updates are based upon and fully aligned with PCMS Best Practices methodologies.

  • Work with internal and client database administrators (DBAs) to run script, validate results and perform quality assurance and testing activities.

  • Works closely with project managers, supervisor and client personnel to ensure that projects tasks are executed and performed to the highest standard of quality.

  • Provide consistent and timely updates on project progress and identify any potential issues which may impact execution strategy, project deliverables or schedule.

Essential Education/Attributes/Work Experience:

  • Previous experience and familiarity with PCMS or other Inspection Data Management Systems (IDMS) is a plus.

  • Proficient in writing SQL within SQL Server Management Studio. Proficiency in SQL (DDL, DQL, DML). Programming experience a plus.

  • Flexibility/creativity in data transfer methods is encouraged.

  • Strong communication and problem solving ability.

  • Ability to interpret abstract technical ideas and concepts effectively.

  • Ability to learn and apply new technical tools and software applications.

  • General PC office skills with: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS project, Outlook.

  • Demonstrate strong customer service focus and ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence.

  • High degree of accountability and responsibility for your work.

  • Works well with others and can foster a team approach for solution development.

  • High School Degree, some college experience preferred.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
