The Opportunity

Responsible for management (preparation, assembly, and submittal) of TC&I EPC proposals with a focus on the Grid Solution. Assigned proposals may range from small to large scope and generally have medium to high-risk profiles. Expected to manage multiple proposals with differing revenue, contracting structures, complexities and schedules at a given time.

Professionals in Pursuit Manager roles have regular opportunities to interface with Segment, Solution and Operations leadership, while gaining exposure to all client types, delivery methods, contracting models and project risk profiles. Successful execution of this role is intended to prepare professionals for accelerated career growth with the skills and experiences required to lead complex services and EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal development from assignment to contract signing.

  • Responsible for budget, schedule, and quality of assigned proposals.

  • Ensure Company Wide Authority Matrix (CWAM) compliance and adherence with proposal process procedures such as: Opportunity Process Procedure, Cost Reviews, Proposal Review Boards, among others.

  • Participate in Bid/No Bid or Screenings when requested by Proposal Leaders.

  • Collaborate with the client account manager and project management to develop and implement the proposal win strategy.

  • Determine which roles are required for pursuit team and identify professionals to support.

  • Develop proposal budget needs based on scope and with team input as warranted, utilizing current version of department template. Analyze against financial metrics and request budget. Monitor budget, communicate budget status to team, and close proposal budgets at time of submittal and again at re-submittal if reopened for BAFO/Shortlist/Price Refresh efforts.

  • Facilitate proposal kick-off meeting and status meetings.

  • Develop and manage overall proposal schedule, maintain and direct-action items.

  • Ensure project management participation in proposal process (project execution plan, scope review, risk mitigation, commercial terms, etc.).

  • Drive collaboration between pursuit team members and other shareholders.

  • Ensure accountability across your team; meet deadlines and drive schedule to achieve delivery requirements.

  • Coordinate scope development and/or technical review of RFP.

  • Continually evaluate risks of the project based on known and unknown information in collaboration with the team.

  • Drive review of Risk Register by Project Manager and Project Director, taking into consideration Solution and Client Segment perspective.

  • Understand risks and ensure mitigation is set and documented and ensuring the current version of the department R&O/Risk Register is utilized.

  • Ensure estimates, including contingency and escalation models are completed on schedule. Verify and fully understand the cost estimate.

  • Ensure the Estimate Lead schedules and executes the estimate review as determined by CRB Procedure taking into consideration Project Revenue and risk score.

  • Coordinate and integrate reviews by legal, contracts, insurance, finance, treasury, and tax support groups for assigned proposals. Ensure the identified risks and mitigations are properly documented in the proposal for translation to project execution upon award.

  • Ensure final Approval Authority takes place, as per the CWAM.

  • When required by the CWAM, facilitate Proposal Review Board (PRB) meeting, including development of all required content. Ensure all PRB actions are closed in a timely manner and provide follow up to the PRB chair.

  • Interface with Proposal Specialists to collaborate on writing, editing, production, assembly, and delivery of assigned proposals.

  • Ensure that the scope of work is comprehensively documented, including a list of exceptions and clarifications to the Client’s RFP/specification.

  • Preparation and assembly of proposal submission documents.

  • Track assigned prospects and proposals and report the status of those proposals to extended team and senior management as appropriate. This includes driving the team to book the NB as originally anticipated (timing) and ensuring the documentation to support year-end review cycle of personal performance.

  • Update Salesforce opportunities throughout lifetime of proposal.

  • Active implementation and sharing of proposal process improvements, lessons learned, cost reduction ideas, and analysis of market intelligence of competitors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering preferred

• Strong technical knowledge of industry including all types of substation and transmission scopes

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project or proposal experience

Certifications

Proposals, sales, and negotiation training preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Normal office environment with a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
