This innovative project aims to bridge the gap between animal science and human nutrition research, leveraging LLM to address complex questions in sustainable food production and health outcomes. The ideal candidate will lead the development, training, and deployment of a customized LLM, integrating various datasets and advancing artificial intelligence tools for real-time decision-making in animal agriculture.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and optimization of LLM architecture tailored for animal science and human nutrition;

  • Manage data preprocessing and integration of specialized datasets;

  • Implement and validate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques;

  • Develop user-friendly interfaces and documentation for the LLM;

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and industry stakeholders for model validation and refinement;

  • Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present research outcomes at conferences;

  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in the project.

  • Other duties as required.

Major duties:

  • Conduct literature reviews and data analyses to refine LLM outputs;

  • Coordinate with the Texas A&M High-Performance Research Computing (HPRC) facility for model training;

  • Design experiments and validation protocols to test the LLM in real-world settings;

  • Build partnerships with stakeholders in animal and human nutrition sectors for collaborative research;

  • Assist with grant writing and proposal submissions to secure additional funding.

Required Education and Experience.

  • PhD in computer science, animal science, nutrition, or a closely related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to handle large datasets;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

  • Proven publication record in relevant fields;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;

  • Expected to be proactive, highly organized, responsible individuals with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in developing machine learning models and advanced computational tools;

  • Expertise in machine learning, data analytics, and programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS.

  • Experience with LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LLaMA).

Application materials. Candidates must submit an application packet containing the following items: (1) a complete Curriculum Vitae, (2) a statement (up to 1,000 words) describing your planned contributions to the position, and (3) names, affiliation, and contact details for three individuals willing to provide a letter of reference on request.
