Job Description

This position provides leadership to the Planning & Preparedness Department and serves as Command Staff for the Fire & Emergency Response Division. This position is responsible for the oversight of programs, personnel and budgets for the following areas: Air Operations, Dispatch, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), TIFMAS Program, the State Operations Center (SOC) personnel and the Line Medics/EMTF Liaison as well as ensuring appropriate ESF4 representation at he State Operations Center. The P&P Department Head must coordinate with cooperators on response planning and response issues.

Responsibilities:-Provide oversight to Air Operations, Dispatch, TIFMAS, IMT and EOC functions. Ensure personnel are appropriately trained and equipped to succeed in their positions. Move programs forward and work with cooperating agencies on building strong partnerships.-Stay informed on fire potential, resource locations and demand, fire activity and other response-oriented information. Collaborate with Field Operations and Division Director, Fire & Emergency Response on response posture and resource movements. Work closely with the SOC on all response operations. Ensure clear and accurate information between SOC and EOC.-Participate in National and State committees regarding fire and emergency response issues. Represent the Texas A&M Forest Service in a professional manner. Create and maintain strong ties to the Texas Fire Service.-Follow all agency policies and procedures. Ensure time, credit card and fuel logs are submitted in a timely manner.-Other duties as assigned.

This is an emergency response position that requires working long hours, including nights and weekends. The employee must be able to travel when notified.

Education and Experience:Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Fire Administration, Emergency Management, Natural Resources or related field of study.

Preferred Education: Master's degree in Fire Administration, Emergency Management, Natural Resources or related field of study.Required Experience: Ten (10) years experience with a recognized fire or emergency response agency.

Preferred Experience: Fifteen (15) years experience with a recognized fire or emergency response agency, executive leadership experience. Experience with local, state and federal response agencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Required Knowledge: General knowledge of budgeting and HR processes.

Required Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Required Abilities: Ability to coordinate complex projects. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:Required: Valid Texas Drivers license.
