As a Program Coordinator II for Undergraduate Student Success, you will help to lead the coordination, development, and implementation of innovative programs such as First 2 Finish, Regents’ Scholars, Leadership Scholars, or the Hullabaloo U program within the College of Arts & Sciences. You will play a pivotal role in championing the success of Arts & Sciences undergraduates, particularly first-generation students, by guiding them in acquiring essential academic, social, and professional skills. You will have the opportunity to oversee first year and multi-year programming, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support throughout their academic journey. Your guidance and expertise will be instrumental in fostering an environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Opportunities to Contribute:

  • Coordinate planning, development, and implementation of other undergraduate student programs to improve first year retention and empower first year students, particularly first generation and/or underrepresented students, to succeed academically, professionally, and socially.

  • Assist with the development and updates to training materials and content for success programming.

  • Provide data for reports related to various programs’ progress.

  • Assist in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning.

  • Attend local, regional, and national professional meetings related to student success, and first generation and/or underrepresented student success.

  • Assist with the development of transition and retention initiatives that are informed by best practices in higher education.

  • Evaluate and assist with assessment of student success programming.

  • Assist with the preparation of reports on Undergraduate Student Success program activities.

  • Develop and maintain strong, positive working relationships with collaborating offices and departments.

  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate.

  • Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming.

  • Collaborate and maintain successful working partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, and specialty support programs

  • Oversight of the coordination and assignment of student mentors for success programming, including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and evaluation.

  • Mentor peer mentors each semester.

  • Have the opportunity to teach one Hullabaloo U section for the college in an academic year.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Four years of program management experience which must include some course management and academic counseling. Event management may be considered in combination with program management.

  • Ability to multi-task and work with groups of people to be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

A well-qualified candidate will also possess:

  • Master’s degree Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.

  • More than five years of experience in program management including some course management and academic counseling, and classroom instruction.

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships.

  • Familiarity with TAMU portals, such as Argos, Navigate, etc.

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Special Note: This is an in-person position. The selected candidate will be expected to work on our College Station campus. This role may require occasional evening and weekend hours and will require occasional travel for student programming.
