General Summary:
Unum is seeking a skilled Business Programmer II with strong C#/.NET experience to join our Documentation Management team. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions, debugging complex applications, and collaborating in a team environment. The Business Programmer will have a solid background in business or financial analysis, management reporting, and related work experience.
This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of 2x per week onsite at one of our campuses.
Job Specifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience is required.
4+ years' experience of business or financial analysis, management reporting, or related work experience is required.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex applications.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience in Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
#C/.NET Qualifications
Proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem (.NET Core, .NET Framework, ASP.NET).
Experience with SQL (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Familiarity with Entity Framework or other ORM frameworks.
Experience with RESTful APIs and Web APIs (ASP.NET Web API, Minimal APIs, gRPC).
Knowledge of frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, Blazor, React) is a plus.
Proficiency with Git for version control.
Understanding of Microservices architecture and Message Queue Systems (RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus) is a plus.
Experience with Azure or AWS for hosting, CI/CD, and cloud-based services.
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
Comfortable with Windows Server environments and IIS.
Experience with Linux (SUSE, Ubuntu, RHEL).
Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and security best practices.
Ability to manipulate PDF, JPEG, and AFP file formats programmatically.
Experience with third-party libraries (iTextSharp, ImageMagick, Ghostscript).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Design, code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology.
Maintain and modify existing programs; make approved changes.
Develop simple applications utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology.
Test and develop programming modifications.
Write new program code using prescribed specifications.
Write and maintain programming documentation.
Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.
Analyze performance of programs and take actions to correct deficiencies based on consultations with users and approval of supervisor.
Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
Conduct or support low to moderate level of analysis and research of data to support management decision making.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
Other duties as assigned.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$53,300.00-$100,700.00
