Job Summary
Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure:
Support the enterprise network environment
Participate in the installation, configuration, and performance analysis of enterprise networks with a primary focus on network routing and switching
Perform infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.
Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.
Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.
Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.
May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24x7 support.
Minimum Requirements:
Infrastructure Engineer Senior (SG7):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Infrastructure Engineer Principal (SG8):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience/Skills:
Advanced understanding of network communications technologies with the ability to:
Analyze, troubleshoot, coordinate, and resolve complex network issues and projects.
Experience with:
Arista switches (including CVP)
Cisco routers and switches (Nexus)
Network monitoring and management platforms, including:
SolarWinds (including NCM)
Cisco DNA
Wireshark packet analysis
Python scripting and automation
Dynamic routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Five years of direct support experience in Network Operations within a large enterprise environment, preferably in the utility or energy sector.
Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL frameworks is a plus.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Cisco CCNA or similar professional-level certifications.

Infrastructure Engineer Senior (SG7): $85,081.00-106,352.50 USD
Infrastructure Engineer Principal (SG8): $96,110.00-124,940.00 USD

Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location.
