As part of the Corporate Development team, you will sit at the heart of that journey as we source, analyze & and execute enterprise-wide M&A initiatives. As a Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst you will work with the deal team to identify potential opportunities, model the impact of proposed transactions, and support live diligence efforts as we continue to build upon Huntington’s best-in-class capabilities and scale. The team develops Huntington's M&A strategy by working closely with the board, executive leadership, segment partners and select external advisors.

  • We are looking for highly motivated, early career candidates who are eager to learn via direct exposure to all aspects of the M&A process -- from the initial stages of assessing interest through deal announcement and legal close

  • This position offers a unique opportunity for top-of-house visibility, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with senior professionals across the organization.

  • As an early career candidate, you will gain valuable hands-on experience across several disciplines (finance, credit, HR, risk, etc.) as you build an executive-level understanding of bank performance

  • As a Mergers & Acquisitions analyst, you will leverage sell-side research, regulatory & public disclosures, and alternative data sources in order to prepare detailed analyses and make appropriate recommendations to management

  • Due to the unique nature of M&A assignments, there is no “day-to-day” routine that fully encapsulates the work done by the team. Successful candidates will thrive in this type of environment, where project-oriented activities can and will change in response to the broader macro environment

Basic Qualifications

  • This position is a great fit for early career candidates with 0 to 4 years of professional experience; prior work experience in the financial services industry is preferred but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics

  • Demonstrated experience balancing multiple tasks / projects with the ability to meet demanding deadlines. A combination of college coursework, internships, or other work experience can be included in this experience

Additional Skills and Experience

  • Strong presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills are required to succeed in this role

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with acute attention to detail

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is preferred; experience building financial models is a plus

  • Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate an active interest in financial services & markets
