JOB SUMMARY:

The Trainer will provide students with hands-on "technical training" for Caterpillar Machines and Machine Systems in both classroom and shop environments.  This instructor will also provide occasional technical support for our Product Support departments for machine systems, electrical, hydraulics, and electronics.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College degree and/or continuing education in a technical field preferred.
  • Three years experience in construction or power equipment service and repair is required. 
  • Teaching or training in a similar industry, community college, vocational-technical school, private technical school, or military is preferred.
  • Previous formal instructor certification (any discipline) and/or Caterpillar instructor certification is a plus.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Individual should be willing to study and learn new skills and technical information related to the job.
  • Mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, energetic, and able to work without direct supervision.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
  • Must demonstrate ability to teach technical material in classroom and shop sessions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.  Must live or be willing to relocate to work from the Cleveland Power Systems location. Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
