Verification & Validation is a global organization using deep customer knowledge to break down customer features into technical requirements. We drive validation plans to reach the requested feature level and secure end customer satisfaction. We also manage the verification plans thanks to world class physical and virtual tests on the complete vehicle such as durability testing in rigs, fuel economy testing, reliability testing with customers and a variety of simulations and tests with trucks on proving grounds and open roads. Our skilled and engaged teams are headquartered in North America in Greensboro, with worldwide locations in Gothenburg, Lyon, Greensboro, Curitiba, Bangalore and Ageo, and Denver.

Job Summary

This role is part of a team that conducts on-road application based validation tests within the Complete Vehicle Team; testing and reporting on every aspect of the truck. The total team on-site is comprised of test engineers, technicians, and drivers. The focus of this role is to ensure the work in the shop is correctly delegated and completed; and the work is transmitted in the most streamlined manner to the technicians. This person will interact with the shop and the local engineering team to ensure issues found are communicated and addressed properly, and will be able to capture and highlight specific issues that need documented by the engineers. An additional responsibility of this position is to act as our safety liaison to ensure the shop is kept up to safe working standards. That also includes the fleet, this role will ensure completeness and accuracy of all the DOT documents and will coordinate with on-site compliance. Additional responsibilities will include keeping up with and procuring shop consumables, interacting with parts and inventory, and assist with shop tool and safety needs. This person should have strong technical background and be able to assist the technician staff when needed.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Be directly involved in daily operations of a team of engineering technicians and fleet of commercial test vehicle and will be the direct-report lead for the team of technicians.

• Become familiar with the maintenance and work order issue and tracking system. Ideally building enough experience to become proficient to navigate and generate reports.

• Ensure daily work orders are filled out completely, accurately, and have ample and descriptive reporting.

• Participates in departmental resource-planning activities.

• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA standards.

• Responsible for safe working habits in the shop and highlight and enforce any failures of safe working practices.

• Maintains an amicable and professional relationship with engineering staff across all locations.

• Some awareness of parts and procurement to assist when needed.

Additional Information

• Ability to travel to travel to on-site vehicle test locations such as Alaska or Arizona.

• Additional travel or on-road driving of commercial vehicles could be requested.

• Has current CDL or willingness to obtain and maintain one.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

• Minimum high school degree or equivalent required; associates degree in engineering is preferable.

• 15+ years experience in commercial vehicle development, engineering planning, or commercial vehicle fleet operations.

• Great work ethic, positive attitude, and strong commitment to deliver high quality work.

• Detail oriented personality and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must be proficient working with computers and skilled in Microsoft Office suite.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base salary range is set at $70,000 - $122,400, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
