The State of New Hampshire, Department of Business and Economic Affairs has a full-time vacancy for Information CenterAttendant I at the Seabrook Welcome Center. Hours:Tuesday-Saturday 4:00pm - 12:00am.
Summary: SCOPE OF WORK: To represent the State of New Hampshire, Department of Resources and Economic Development, Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD), professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the Department while maintaining and protecting facilities, providing information and assisting visitors and traveling public.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs custodial duties and grounds upkeep at a Welcome and Information Center to ensure a safe and clean facility. Provides exceptional customer service and information on New Hampshire's businesses, attractions, activities, transportation, dining, lodging and natural resources to visitors and traveling public. Maintains monthly inventories of brochures and supplies, assists in tracking and reporting visitor volume and ensures maintenance needs are reported. Maintains current knowledge of traveler information throughout the State and attends customer service seminars and training as required. Assists visitors by using brochures, computers or any other resources at the employee's disposal. Assists DTTD's marketing staff communicate the State's marketing campaign through these frontline locations. Reports weather and highway conditions to provide current data to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and U.S. Weather Bureau as necessary. Summons aid to assist travelers in highway and personal emergencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for each year of required work experience.
Experience: Six months of experience in positions which involve frequent contact with the general public such as retail sales, education, administrative support, or a related field.
License/Certification: None
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet Explorer, or ability to learn basic computer skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Must have attained 18th birthday on or before date of application.
2.Must be able to physically stand for long periods of time, negotiate stairs and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in order to perform grounds maintenance and move supplies.
3.Must enjoy working with the public and meeting new people.
4.Must be a team player and possess great communication skills, as well as be able to maintain composure during stressful times.
5.Must become familiar with the agency initiatives and mission.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
