This position is subject to renew every 2 years.

The starting pay range for this position is $25.40 - $34.14 per hour.

This position offers a Trainee Status* at the following pay rate: $24.34 per hour.

*Candidates hired at a Trainee Status must meet minimum qualifications within one (1) year of hire date.

The State of New Hampshire, Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, Division of Enforcement has a full-time temporary vacancy fora Paralegal.

Summary:

Initiate and conduct evaluations and perform paraprofessional law-related duties in providing recommendations and strategies for the resolution of cases adjudicated by the occupational licensing boards within the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in legal studies or related field and possession of a Paralegal Certificate from a certified paralegal program, preferred. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience:Four years experience in civil litigation, criminal justice, real estate law, legal research, paralegal work, investigations, or human resources investigations. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification:Eligibility for New Hampshire drivers license, if necessary, for travel throughout the State.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:Knowledge of modern methods, practices, and procedures of investigative work. Ability to manage, organize, supervise, and coordinate investigations in a wide range of legal matters. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to exercise judgment and discuss problems rationally during a possible adversarial contact. Ability to understand, evaluate and analyze technical and other complex documents. Knowledge of pertinent laws for litigation practice, legal procedures, and methods of legal research. Ability to analyze widely divergent elements of information and arrive at logical conclusions. Ability to objectively evaluate information received to make sound recommendations. Ability to use integrity in the protection and confidentiality of evidence and sensitive documents and files. Must be willing to maintain appearance to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointment authority.

Responsibilities:

Reviews and analyzes cases and identifies specific issues or problems. Reviews and analyzes highly complex documents, including medical records, to obtain and verify information.

Evaluates cases received from a variety of sources concerning possible violation of occupational licensing laws, and administrative rules and regulations, and determines whether or not the licensing boards have proper jurisdiction.

Answer inquiries regarding the requirements of occupational licensing statutes and rules and regulations for purposes of clarification, as directed by a supervisor.

Conducts thorou h evaluations of cases filed with all fifty-plus occupational licensing boards within the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, including interviews of complainants, respondents, and witnesses. Conducts site visits to offices and/or subject property as directed by a supervisor.

Prepares discovery and detailed recommendations to a supervisor upon completion of any report of investigation or on-site visit.

Prepares complete investigative reports, case filings, and evidentiary material for the relevant licensing board to evaluate in order to determine further action. Maintains and updates hearings dockets.

Attends hearings conducted by the licensing boards as determined by a supervisor and presents testimony and evidentiary material on matters being heard.
