Ankura Senior Director, Revenue Accounting in Connecticut

This is a great opportunity to lead Ankura’s highly-visible revenue function and become a key leader within the firm’s fast-growing accounting and finance team. The Senior Director - Revenue will be responsible for overseeing the global revenue accounting function at Ankura and will manage a team that performs accounting for revenue recognition, client receivables and related areas of accounting. This person will lead a team that owns the month-end close process over revenue, deferred revenue and unbilled accounts receivable, and will help ensure accuracy and completeness of the firm’s financials. The Senior Director – Revenue will hold key relationships with client-facing business groups within the firm as well as interface with our external tax and audit teams. This person will also support other areas within Finance, such as FP&A, with analysis of the various revenue and revenue-related metrics.

The Senior Director - Revenue should be proficient with ASC 606 and other technical accounting areas in accounting and be comfortable acting as the subject matter expert in all areas related to revenue accounting and revenue operations. The ideal candidate will be someone who has lead a revenue function in a professional services industry, is analytical and inquisitive by nature and is able to manage a diverse set of personnel and functions that will report to this role. They will have ten or more years of relevant experience and have demonstrated exceptional competencies through previous employment performance.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee global monthly revenue close process including the review of contracts and timely and accurate reporting of revenue results

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior management

  • Ensure month-end reconciliation of all revenue, unbilled accounts receivable and deferred revenue accounts, and analyze fluctuations in these accounts

  • Review journal entries for manual adjustments to related accounts as needed

  • Support interim and annual audit by providing requested documentation to external auditors

  • Identify and implement best practices and project level reporting for the revenue team

  • Oversee revenue operations, including contract set up, cash application, and cash collection

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. CPA required.

  • Ten to twelve years of progressive accounting experience, ideally a mix of public accounting and corporate accounting

  • Deep knowledge of revenue accounting/ASC 606 principles as well as experience accounting for complex financial and high-volume transactions

  • Technology savvy with intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages (Workday a plus) for general ledger and accounting, MS Word, and MS Excel

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with peers and all levels of management.

  • Strong organizational skills. Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments and deadlines.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills – ability to determine solutions and alternative solutions based on the situation.

  • Positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment

  • Limited travel (<10%) to visit non-local team members and to attend meetings as necessary.
