Austin Industries Senior Party Chief (North Texas Area) – Austin Bridge & Road in Coppell, Texas

Austin Bridge & Road has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Party Chief at our corporate headquarters in Coppell, Texas. The Senior Party Chief will perform surveys for one or more projects in the North Texas region , covering the Dallas/Fort Worth area and surrounding cities.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field surveying and accurate layout on construction projects.

  • Review and interpret construction drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate execution of tasks.

  • Provide construction layout and verification, adhering to technical specifications and project requirements.

  • Establish benchmarks, monuments, centerlines, grade traverses, slopes, and other reference points for accurate installation and construction.

  • Assist craft supervision in the review and interpretation of construction plans and drawings.

  • Perform survey layout and checks for accuracy on project sites.

  • Ensure accurate control and timely layout of projects, communicating the completion of tasks to the Survey Manager.

  • Disseminate information related to survey tasks and layout to the Survey Manager and field crews.

  • Ensure all survey work is conducted following the Survey Department’s practices and procedures.

  • Final check of all layout work to ensure proper adherence to survey references and technical drawings.

  • Maintain and properly calibrate survey equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good working condition.

  • Supervise the field adjustment and calibration of survey equipment.

  • Clearly communicate survey layout and issues to the Survey Manager, Party Chiefs, and field crews.

  • Properly document survey layouts performed for future reference and work accuracy.

  • Report any field issues or concerns to the Survey Manager promptly.

  • Conduct Tool Box Safety Meetings and enforce all safety regulations on the job site.

  • Remain alert to all safety conditions, ensuring the safety of the team and project.

  • Provide on-the-job training for qualified personnel and track training hours using the Foreman’s Daily Control.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience on a survey crew, specifically in heavy-civil construction projects.

  • Expertise in survey operations for bridge structures, roadway layout, wall layout, and TOPO (topographical) surveys.

  • Advanced proficiency with Trimble equipment, including setup, operation, and data management.

  • Hands-on experience with 3D machine control, 3D concrete paving, and 3D asphalt paving—a significant advantage.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead survey operations with precision and efficiency.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing complex projects.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide excellent customer service and foster collaboration in a team setting.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines consistently while ensuring quality.
