Scope of Position
Project leadership
Apply ceram and glass heat treatment scientific principles to develop new glass and glass ceramic products to transfer to MP
DOE design, execution and statistical analysis
Utilize engineering hypothesis testing methodology (MEE or similar) and kT root cause analysis strategies to understand perceived and actual risks to product scale to manufacturing
Supporting and/or leading continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions and cost reduction projects
Working with other team members from Research to Development to Manufacturing to solve difficult technical challenges and for new product development
Apply chemical and materials engineering principles to develop processes to support new product development to scale to manufacturing
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Design and lead execution of experimentation for new ceram and glass product development
Build fundamental understanding for new product property development
Compile and prepare professional data reports for communication to team and leadership
Work with Scientists, Engineers and Technicians to resolve/develop products and processes
Data and statistical analysis to understand process capability
Maintain safe work environment for self and others with operations and equipment and comply with safety and environmental regulations
Work independently as well as within a team
Troubleshoot material and process to identify root causes, identify and implement corrective actions
Engage with multidisciplinary team to build network and enable project buy-in
Requirements
PhD or MS degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Glass/Ceramics Engineering or related discipline
Experience in process engineering and/or product development
Knowledge of glass and glass ceramic properties and good understanding of material property interactions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills communicating to a multidisciplinary team
Strong innovative problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Highly motivated for fast paced development environment
DOE design knowledge
Strong technical skills and the ability to think outside the traditional boundaries to enable innovation
Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries
Results and organizational detail oriented
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork in accomplishing common goals
Data analysis and interpretation skills (Excel, Minitab, JMP, PowerPoint, Word)
Desired Skills
Research/Development experience with glass/glass ceramics
Experience with glass inspection techniques
Statistical Modeling experience
Six Sigma
This position supports immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $76,018.00 - $104,526.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
