As an Operations Manager you will...

  • Drive the overall success of the Branch, Parts & Service departments at Volvo Construction Equipment & Services.

  • Champion a “Safety First”, “Customer Focused” and a continuous improvement culture.

  • Manage branch personnel performance, safety, training, leading, developing, problem solving and leadership to the team.

  • Understand, live and implement our “Service Commitment” (Volvo Service Commitment).

  • Understand machine population and relevant KPI’s including productivity to grow, strengthen and improve the operations.

  • Reports to the VCES President.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all VCES applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, standards, and values.

  • Responsible for promoting employee awareness of environment, health, and safety through the coordination, and implementation of branch-wide communications.

  • Managing all day to day operations, including personnel, customer issues, finance, and facility maintenance.

  • Ensures that parts inventory levels meet customer demand and service levels meets customer expectations.

  • Implement processes to create efficiencies, lower costs, and provide better customer service.

  • Building on existing, and fostering new, customer relationships to increase service business and parts sales.

  • Work with other departments to grow branch operations business including but not limited product support and sales teams.

  • Develops and implements strategies to simply process, improve accuracy and improve operating efficiency.

  • Provides appropriate direction and support to team members to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the Parts and Service departments.

  • Develop, train, and support direct reports including on-going feedback through regular evaluations and development planning.

  • Manage the department operational budgets to minimize overhead costs at Volvo Construction Equipment & Services.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills to motivate, develop, and retain a high performing work group.

  • Work with Human Resources and President to design incentive compensation programs that provide market-competitive pay aligned with business organization objectives.

  • Gather, analyze and report on competitive and business developments.

  • In conjunction with VCES President, develop annual business plan, objectives and targets for this location.

  • Execute, manage, and develop operations to meet company objective but not limited to business plan and KPIs.

Who are you?

Required knowledge, experience, education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in service, parts, or product support operations

  • Knowledge of experience in distribution based business (preferably in the Construction Equipment Industry)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Important Information / Requirements:

  • Some travel within the VCES-CA territory

  • Works with others in a team / office environment

  • Must have strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with appropriate influence and ability to resolve complex business issues.

  • Able to perform duties effectively in a fast-paced environment whether working autonomously or under direction

  • Able to make autonomous decisions based on business situations within the scope of the established authorization directives

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base salary range is set at $125,000 - $155,000 USD, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
