Morgan Advanced Materials Developmental Machinist - 1st Shift in Coudersport, Pennsylvania

Morgan Advanced Materials, Performance Carbon business in Coudersport, PA, is recruiting for a Skilled Trades Developmental Machinist on 1st Shift. This skilled trade position has primary responsibilities to set up and operate conventional and special purpose lathes, mills and grinding machines within the Maintenance Department. The successful candidate must be capable of the following:

  • Studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, etc. to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measuring, marking and scribing dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as a guide for subsequent machining as necessary.
  • Selecting, aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors (speed, feed, coolant flow, depth/angles of cuts); input/edit computer programs; operate/observe machine in operation, detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments to machine parts according to quality specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines as required.
  • Confer with Engineers, Production personnel, Programmers, etc. to resolve machining or assembly issues.
  • Requires standing, lifting, squatting, reaching, climbing, twisting/turning, pushing/pulling, walking and visual inspection (close/distance, peripheral, and fine focus).
  • Must be able to bring projects to completion with minimal supervision.

Candidates must be a US Person, defined as an individual that is a:

  • Citizen of the United States, or
  • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
  • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15

Associate or Technical Degree; or 4 to 6 years related experience and/or training required.  Journeyman's papers or State certification desired.  Candidates must possess strong math skills with a demonstrated ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, solid geometry, and trigonometry when problem solving.
