Naval Facilities Engineering Command TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in Crane, Indiana

Responsibilities You will schedule students and conduct training, testing, and licensing of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE), Rigging, Heavy, Mobile Equipment (HME), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and Motor Vehicle Operators (MVO). You will provides research and development of new material, for conducting other training to satisfy unique or non-recurring training or work requirements (i.e. skid loaders, runway sweepers, and snowplows). You will provides technical expertise for the conduction of transportation operations surveillance, incident/accident investigations, and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and safety. You will develops and maintains training records for each trainee. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Selective Placement Factor (SPF): This position has an SPF which is CURRENT COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE, CLASS A, (combination vehicles in excess of 26,000 lbs. GVWR) with H, N, and P endorsements (hazardous materials, tankers and passenger) is required. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing, and scheduling work to meet customer requirements; 2) Communicating effectively both orally and in writing as well as speaking in front of an audience; and 3) Providing record keeping methods, database development, spreadsheets, and presentation development. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires various degrees of physical exertion, including long periods of standing and climbing aloft on cranes. Incumbent wears protective equipment (PPE) due to the inherent hazards of falling objects normally associated with the trade of lifting and handling. Work also involves walking, and carrying of materials not to exceed 35 pounds (i.e. tools, traffic cones, training aids, etc.). WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a multitude of locations, to include: amongst industrial buildings, shop areas and outdoor areas. When outdoors, incumbent is required to work in all weather conditions as safety permits (i.e. heat, cold, rain, snow). Applicable personnel protective equipment (PPE) is required when working on actual transportation equipment operational job sites (i.e. hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, work gloves, and safety shoes). Approximately half of the work is performed outdoors with the remainder of the work performed in an office setting. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
