This position contributes to the development and qualification of advanced lithium-ion battery technology for portable power consumer applications. You will work with internal multi-functional teams to develop battery firmware, algorithm and battery management system (BMS) qualification protocols using system requirements, user profiles and the battery health monitoring estimation models to ensure high level of customer experience. You will collaborate with FW, Algo and BMS engineers to improve the quality and improve productivity and efficiency.

Description

You will be a part of a team qualifying new class of algorithms, architectures and products to improve the utility of batteries. In this role, you will collaborate with FW, Algo and BMS engineers on defining qualification metrics, use cases, battery aging model and system requirements to ensure high level of customer experience. In this position you will be expected to use a combination of advanced electrical and chemical engineering and mathematics to validate the performance of algorithm. You will: •Develop simulation and physical tests to validate state of charge and state of power of battery systems. •Review, analyze and report qualification result data, flag and report anomalous qualification output and perform FA to identify RC for deviation. •Standardize qualification test plans across labs to improve uniformity and reliability of qualification data. •Report on KPI and monitor timely execution of tests. •Develop verification methods to detect battery abnormalities early in advance in NPI design process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in one field Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Experience with Python or C/C++.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD degree with 3+ years relevant industry experience.

  • 3+ years experience in BMS algorithm/firmware/software development or validation.

  • Electrical Engineering fundamentals to understand basic circuits.

  • Experience with data analysis and ability to use statistical tools and techniques to support proposed solutions.

  • Experience with detailed Lithium-ion battery modeling is a plus.

  • Proven ability to work with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
