BIM Coordinator

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Generate construction and fabrication drawings for manufacturing using CADD, AutoCAD, and Revit systems for large complex commercial and industrial construction projects.

  • Provide on-site support for field personnel and interface with team leaders, group managers, project managers, shop fabrication managers, and field supervisors.

  • Coordinate overall schedules, including BIM logs, with department managers, project managers, shop supervision, and field supervision.

  • Ensure optimization of the model to drive efficiency. Work with project leadership to maximize prefabrication opportunities and create material management efficiencies.

  • Facilitate and ensure the Scrum team follows agile processes. Skillfully remove obstacles and distractions, act as a liaison, and plan and communicate Sprint plans.

  • Participate in Handover/BIM Kickoff meetings to understand the scope, budget, and timeline of projects.

  • Collect and redistribute specification summaries and manage the job profiles setup process.

  • Review engineering and contractual documents, coordinate architectural and structural documents, and ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Review equipment submittal documents for accuracy and completeness.

  • Coordinate draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure routings and clearances are understood and no obstructions exist.

  • Attend weekly BIM meetings and interact with GC and other Subs.

  • Perform site surveys and field measurements to support conceptual and design drawing efforts.

  • Make final checks and reviews of trade drawings prior to fabrication release.

  • Provide completed and complex construction drawings to the shop for manufacturing and to job site management for construction and installation of material and equipment.

  • Review work from coordinators assigned to the project for timely completion and drawing quality.

  • Monitor work in progress and review completed work to ensure compliance with department standards and a high standard of drawing quality.

  • Review contractual documents and construction drawings for conflicts with architectural and structural documents and ensure compliance with local code requirements.

  • Identify issues during the review and bring them to the attention of project management for resolution through the RFI process.

  • Manage document control during the detailing process and interpret discrepancies and conflicts within contractual documents. Approve RFIs and provide input for Coordination Change Orders (CCOs) for project managers.

  • Monitor cost and schedule throughout the project to keep coordination efforts aligned with the project estimate.

  • Advise project management staff of potential overruns and work required or requested outside the baseline scope.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Hard Skills

  • 5+ years VDC Mechanical Piping experience

  • Basic understanding of current design software such as AutoDesk

  • Working knowledge of drawing production and standard construction techniques and principles

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).
