Job Description:
UES is seeking a dynamic CMT Field Operations Manager/Trainer to join our Dallas team! In this dual role, you will oversee daily field testing operations while driving the professional growth of field technicians through hands-on training. Your leadership will ensure high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in construction materials testing, while also fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development within the team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Oversee and manage all aspects of field operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
Supervise and lead a team of CMT Field Technicians (Levels 1-4), providing guidance, support, performance evaluations, and career development opportunities.
Ensure all fieldwork complies with project specifications, industry standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO), and safety regulations.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project managers to meet project objectives and address any field-related issues.
Review and approve field reports, ensuring accuracy and quality before submission to clients.
Manage and maintain field equipment, including calibration, repairs, and inventory control.
Monitor project budgets, optimize resource utilization, and control costs to meet financial goals.
Conduct site visits to ensure quality assurance, resolve on-site issues, and maintain client relationships.
Develop and implement training programs for CMT Field Technicians at all levels, focusing on testing procedures, equipment usage, safety practices, and compliance with industry standards.
Conduct classroom and field training sessions, using a variety of training materials such as manuals, videos, and presentations.
Evaluate technicians’ performance during training, providing feedback and coaching to improve skills and knowledge.
Update training content regularly to reflect the latest industry standards, testing methods, and technological advancements.
Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, testing, and feedback from participants.
Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring, particularly for new hires or technicians needing additional support.
Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and continuing education requirements for all field staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or commensurate experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction materials testing with a strong background in field operations and training.
Advanced certifications such as NICET Level III or IV, ACI, or other relevant industry credentials.
Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and developing teams.
Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT requirements.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Proficiency in using field testing equipment and software for data collection, reporting, and training.
Ability to travel to various job sites and training locations as needed.
