Universal Engineering Sciences Field Geologist in Dallas, Texas

UES is looking for a Seasonal Field Geologist for our Dallas location. They will assist the drill crew chief in solid stem and hollow stem auger drilling techniques. Duties will include: performing visual soil classification, conducting field tests to determine soil properties, preparing detailed boring logs, and taking site photographs to document field activities and sample locations. Periodic travel is required, and on-call duties may be needed. Field Geologists must be available to work some weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Locate, observe, and log field borings, probes, and test pits from plan layouts.

  • Participate in drilling and sampling operations using manual or power-operated hand augering equipment.

  • Install, read, and interpret field instruments such as observation wells, inclinometers, etc.

  • Perform observations of field activities for compliance with project objectives and prepare reports documenting activities.

  • Practice loss prevention techniques.

  • Provide liaison with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives to achieve satisfactory field operations.

  • Loading and unloading trucks.

  • Catching and recording samples of drilling cuttings to be analyzed.

  • Assisting in measuring test boring locations.

  • Other duties as assigned by the drill crew chief.

  • Must be reliable and punctual.

  • Must follow and enforce all safety standards.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of Geotechnical Engineering or Geology experience required

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Geology degree preferred

  • Valid Texas Driver's License and must continue to maintain a safe driving record to fulfill the travel requirements of this position.

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness with project results required.

  • Must be punctual, reliable, and dependable.

  • Must be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the day.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 40+ pounds regularly.

  • Applicants must pass a background investigation, drug screening, and driving record.

  • Basic phone and computer skills: Microsoft Outlook and ADP.
