The Fleet Manager is a leading performer that is responsible for managing fleet trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. This role is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating leasing/financing, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of all aforementioned assets.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Directly responsible for the company trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
Work with the operation’s teams to understand and meet their needs.
Manage all assets’ maintenance programs, such as tire replacement program adherence, scheduling of preventative maintenance, repairs, and rentals.
Negotiate leases, financing, and service contracts with all suppliers and manufacturers’ suppliers.
Develop and administer processes from procurement to disposition.
Replace and add assets as needed to support the growth of company or age of assets.
Establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies, and practices for cost-effective operation.
Responsible for taking appropriate actions involving transfers, asset commissioning/decommissioning, and other key equipment processes.
Implement long term planning to produce equipment budgets each year, and develop strategies for cost containment and cost reductions.
Determine appropriate life cycle replacement costs that reduce equipment ownership and operating cost while preserving resale value.
Demonstrate expertise in cost containment. Perform cost-benefit analysis of major or significant repairs to include depreciation considerations.
Understand asset replacement policies, second-hand market, disposal channels, and retail value.
Produce, analyze, and review data to anticipate future needs.
Provide capital planning and forecasting analysis to the finance team.
Manage an equipment database.
Perform ad-hoc reporting as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive knowledge of trucks, forklifts and material handling equipment industry required.

Other Pertinent Job Information:
- Temporary indirect reporting relationships may exist while working as Project lead. May be required to act in senior role, providing task related advice and direction to junior team members.
