This job is a member of the Corporate Affairs Team within the Government Affairs Division.
Responsible for assigned Security Programs (Cargo Security, Catering Security, Facilitation, Audit, C-TPAT, etc.) and support the associated internal American Airlines business unit (airport customer service, flight, flight service, cargo, catering, etc.) by partnering to formulate policies, procedures, processes and training to maintain compliance and effectiveness.
What you'll do
Supports rotation of assigned areas as deemed appropriate by department leadership
Develops, updates and audits cargo security programs submitted to government authorities
Develops, updates and reviews cargo security training programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Analyzes and interprets U.S. and foreign government security and border control agency regulations affecting assigned cargo security programs and ensure they are incorporated into American Airlines' operating programs and procedures
Coordinates review of new cargo security regulations with all internal American Airlines departments to develop an implementation plan and formulate responses to regulators and industry bodies
Develops relationships with departmental stakeholders, security service providers and regulators to review assigned cargo security programs and drive continuous compliance improvement
Performs regular outreach visits and audits to ensure compliance with applicable cargo security regulations
Investigates incidents and allegations of non-compliance to include developing mitigation plans, preparing formal written correspondence to Letter of Investigation and Notices of Proposed Civil Penalties, preparing talking points and case summaries for informal conferences, and follow-up oversight to ensure mitigation plan is executed
Develops data driven reporting to show compliance and performance trends for responsible programs
Compiles and presents compliance data for the SeMS Security Data Analysis Group which highlight performance successes, failures and compliance risk exposure
Works with internal and external partners to ensure tools (e.g. systems, reporting, performance monitoring, process aids, etc.) are in place to ensure efficient and compliant implementation of required measures
Represents American Airlines at industry trade association meetings (including A4A, IATA, ATAC, host government, etc.) as requested
Develops briefing materials on program status and present to senior leadership
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
5 years work experience in the aviation industry
3 years of work experience interpreting regulatory requirements
2 years work experience in project management
Experience in interpreting new customs and immigration regulations and assessing impact to the operation
Experience with policy and procedures development to support implementation of regulatory programs
Experience with interdepartmental project management
