Royal Electric Vice President of Construction - TX in Dallas, Texas

Key Responsibilities:
Building People:
Help develop and implement cross-functional teams and workflows to key initiatives that impact multiple departments.
Oversee P&L and overall budget for the Texas region.
Assist the leadership to create and execute quarterly goals in support of annual corporate goals.
Develop or refine department structures to be scalable for growth in the department and in other regions.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of project and field operations.
Ensure department leadership has the capabilities to execute efficient workflows, lead their teams and focus on safe work practices.
Set productivity and output goals for each department. Create metrics and train Project Executives, Project Managers and operation team to track progress.
Lead by example by living our linking values and promoting company culture within the Texas region. Drive successful execution of company strategy
Building Relationships:
Participate in annual planning meetings with executive leadership.
Work closely with preconstruction and estimating team members to assist in accurately estimating the costs associated with all aspects of the projects. This involves assessing material quantities and costs, labor, equipment, subcontractor expenses, VE options, and any other relevant cost associated with project costs.
Work directly with Operational Manger (OM) to help deliver a budget that aligns with estimate and preconstruction department.
Work with Operational Manger, project teams, and VDC team to help start the first 10% of a project. This includes submittal review, electrical room layout, underground layout, and contract schedule issues.
Manage relationships with clients, owners, contractors to foster strong partnerships.
Work closely with the Director of Business Development (DBD) to help evaluate project requirements, specifications, constructability, client expectations, and to help deliver a thorough proposal.
Building Projects:
Develop and manage the procurement strategy of new projects or clients identified through analysis of existing and future gaps.
Assess client (company and project team) alignment of culture and shared values.
Ensure successful execution of the projects, meeting quality, safety, and compliance standards through the proven process.
Monitor and evaluate project performance against the baseline business plans and financial models.
Evaluate and improve construction processes and procedures for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide construction expertise and insight to accurately gauge project potential and highlight risk areas.
Improve safety and efficiency in each department through improvement in layout, resources and tooling. Ensure departments are maximizing technology and using it correctly.
Assist with creating and expanding Royal’s footprint by driving increased profit to achieve Royal’s growth objective through strategic planning, including development of any new market sectors in Texas.
Attend industry events as needed.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, construction, or a related discipline or equivalent preferred but not required.
15+ years of proven successful construction experience in the field and office combined.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Experienced in construction management, field operations, and constructability.
Ability to help manage and build new client relationships and expand market opportunities across multiple segments.
A strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, regulations, and industry standards is essential for this position. Will need to provide technical guidance and ensure that electrical designs are complete and comply with applicable codes and safety requirements.
Proven track record of profitable and productive construction projects managed or overseen.
Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments (construction process, delivery models, contract types)
Strong understanding of construction and design systems, building types, and costs
Understands construction terminology and ready grasp concepts and technical processes.
Understands differences between the public sector and private sector and the means and methods of pricing and installation of this work.
Has some knowledge and understanding of unique aspects of market sector trends and influences.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal with people with an outward mindset.
Safety & Physical Requirements:
Act as a safety leader, by leading by example, complying with all safety standards and procedures, wearing proper PPE, driving conversation and participating in conversations surrounding alignment of Royals safety with clients, project, and field operations.
Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday.
Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary Range:
$150,000/year - $225,000/year
- This position is an exempt position.
