Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling Building Maintenance / Mechanic in Danbury, Connecticut

Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling / IWS is seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Maintenance / Mechanic professional to join our Danbury, CT team. This role is essential in ensuring the functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our Waste and Recycling facilities. (Garbage Company)

Full-time hours Monday thru Friday and some Saturdays from 7AM to 5PM. Pay is $28 - $32 per hour.

You will be responsible for the maintenance and mechanical duties for our MRF facility and Sort line Buildings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in various maintenance tasks, including HVAC/R systems, welding, and electrical work. Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections and maintenance (small repairs) to buildings, building systems, including HVAC/R.

Conduct repairs and maintenance tasks such as stick welding, fabrication, and mechanical adjustments.

Analyze schematics to troubleshoot issues related to electrical systems and high voltage equipment.

Operate scissor lifts safely for maintenance tasks at elevated heights.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing all maintenance duties.

Skills

Proficient in stick welding and fabrication techniques.

Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues effectively.

Experience operating scissor lifts and other maintenance equipment.

Solid understanding of HVAC/R systems and their components.

Mechanical knowledge to perform various repair tasks efficiently.

Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical systems.

Familiarity with high voltage systems and safe handling practices.

Competence in using an ohmmeter for electrical testing.
