Duties & Responsibilities: Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

  • Must be able to build relationships with students with a variety of social, behavioral, and academic needs

  • Provide remedial and grade level instruction.

  • Must be willing to be trained in Edgenuity

  • Must be willing to teach executive functioning skills

  • Must be willing to be trained in Check and Connect

  • Must be willing to work with other building personnel to provide appropriate support to Program students.

  • Assist Program students with goal setting for short- and long-term success in the classroom and beyond.

  • Participate in home visits for Program students when appropriate.

  • Act as a liaison between Program students, families & school personnel for identified students.

  • Assist students with developing healthy & effective organizational/study habits to be successful in school & life.

  • Must be trained or willing to be trained in restorative practices, trauma responsive practices, and culturally responsive teaching.

  • Must implement building-wide PBIS practices in support of building and district goals.

  • Must be willing to support and implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for both academics and behavior.

  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records on students participating in mentoring, tutoring, & school & community activities related to Redirection Program

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Endorsement Required: High school teaching certification

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.

  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.

  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential

  • Experience working with at-risk youth preferred

  • Possesses the ability to work effectively in small or larger teams and independently.

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with technology skills necessary to complete job duties

  • Maintain flexibility in day to day interactions with staff and students

  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students

  • Awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies

  • Consistent and reliable attendance is required

  • CPI trained or willingness to gain CPI certification
