Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

  • Ensure compliance with all laws, policies, procedures, and work rules as it relates to the district.

  • Responsible for assisting with SAVE & PPEL project planning, bidding and implementation within jurisdiction (such as major construction projects).

  • Collaborate with Construction manager, architects, engineers and local officials to effectively plan and schedule projects.

  • Attend and assist in facilitation of construction meetings.

  • Participate in the preparation and management of line-item budgets as related to improvement of facilities.

  • Attend and assist in facilitation of construction meetings.

  • Determine, implement and monitor project scheduling.

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA & EPA regulations.

  • Conduct periodic visits to all district buildings.

  • Responsible for overseeing life safety repairs and upgrades.

  • Maintain warranty information as applicable.

  • Apply for rebates as applicable to projects.

  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when working with confidential information.

  • Serves as afterhours contact person for emergencies.

  • All other duties/directives as assigned by the Construction Manager, Director of Operations, Superintendent, and/or his/her designee.

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.

  • Must be able to safely navigate all DCSD buildings and grounds.

  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs as DCSD has multi-level buildings with and without elevators.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs.

  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • High School graduate with additional training in trade school or college engineering or related field.

  • Three years of commercial construction experience.

  • Familiarity with terminology of building trade crafts.

  • Experience with contractors and unions.

  • Experience with basic computer applications including Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, etc.

  • Experience with adhering to policies, procedures, and proclamations related to public school operations.

  • Other duties as determined by the Director of Operations, Superintendent, and/or his/her designee.
