Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the Merchandising Analytics department, supporting the company vision to be the first choice for retail and health services. Creates and executes actionable performance reporting, tools, and insights across Walgreens Merchandising organization, leveraging data, systems, and tools across business groups to advance the Merchandising strategy. Responsible for developing critical performance dashboards, integrating key datasets and tools, and delivering actionable insights to advance Merchandising priorities to ensure objectives are achieved. Outcomes directed have a significant impact on the organization's short- and long-term results, specific customers and/or partners. Decisions and deliverables have significant impact on the organization.
Job Responsibilities
Develops a strategic plan (short and long-term) to implement modernized Merchandising reporting and insights; leading and overseeing the activities for the area of responsibility across Merchandising and partner business groups.
Builds performance dashboards and collects inputs to inform short-term and long-term decision-making. Leads business reviews and development of strategies to meet financial targets, and departmental goals and objectives.
Collaborates with Merchandising leadership and peers to ensure understanding of key initiatives and results. Supports quarterly senior leadership insights discussions and assessment of business performance.
Leverages industry expertise to provide strategic leadership in Merchandising Analytics, performance reporting, and delivery to drive business outcomes and operational excellence in Merchandising
Shares highly complex information related to areas of expertise. Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of objectives and report on the execution thereof. Advises and makes actionable recommendations to executive management on strategic initiatives related to modernizing Merchandising reporting and analytics and our Customer Experience.
Accountable for performance reporting design, partnership with key development teams (e.g. Product, IT, Merchandising, Finance), integrity of performance insights, and integration with associated tools and data-sets (e.g. Assortment, Financial Planning, DNP, Space, etc.)
Develops actionable insights for specified area of responsibility and is accountable for delivering against business goals/objectives.
Builds the formal frameworks and methodologies for key strategic issues both leveraging existing resources and creating new innovative solutions, ensuring process and structural fit with cross-functional teams. Establishes the underlying toolkit essential for building the infrastructure.
Oversees and provides leadership, direction and consultation to the Directors on staff within Merchandising Analytics. Builds and manages an internal/external team to lead the development of a robust Merchandising Analytics team. Oversees and directs the work of director, managers and their subordinates. Obtains and allocates resources to meet operating plans. Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports. Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

External Basic Qualifications:
Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, including the executive level.
Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
Experience using software required to manage and visualize data (e.g. Databricks, Tableau, etc.)
Experience developing and delivering performance reporting / analytics solutions end-to-end
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
Experience interacting and influencing others at the executive level.
Experience creating opportunities and leading initiatives that impact ROI and/or an organization's profitability
At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership.
Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree OR MBA
12 years of experience in one or more of the following: retail, strategy, analytics, pricing, consumer packaged goods, insights, category management and/or business analysis.
Direct experience in Merchandising Analytics at top Retail organization.
