The Center for Food Innovation is looking for a Lead Technician Food Technology to join the Food Science and Product Development team of Enzyme House.

As a lead technician, you will work closely together with fellow technicians, experts and scientists of the food science and product development team. You perform experiments that support food enzyme development projects for Taste, Texture and Health business segments, such as Cheese, Milk, Baking, Plant-based dairy and Ingredient Processing.

You are a flexible team player that can efficiently and independently execute lab- and automated experiments, analyze results with a critical eye, and report findings to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately plan, prepare, and carry out enzyme biochemistry experiments in an independent fashion, involving for example SDS-PAGE and enzyme activity assays using spectrophotometric or HPLC methods.

  • Plan and conduct the experiments based on technical hypotheses, analyze the collected data, and discuss with scientists and fellow lab technicians.

  • Present findings, draw conclusions, and recommend subsequent actions.

  • Enhance laboratory efficiency by automating workflows.

  • Oversee and troubleshoot analytical equipment, ensuring their proper maintenance.

  • Prioritize safety in all tasks and activities.

You Bring

  • BSc or equivalent experience in (applied) Biochemistry, Biotechnology and/or Food Technology.

  • Experience with enzymes and biochemical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, spectrophotometric assays and affinity with automated workflows.

  • 5 years of working experience in life sciences laboratory, within an R&D and/or innovation environment.

  • A can-do attitude, independent work ethic and a preference for high paced projects.

  • Flexible, willing to learn several different techniques and collaborate in multiple teams.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing.
