Description of Job

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Program Director for Agriculture & Energy to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) team at System Office. In this role you will promote excellence in CTE programs in secondary schools, area vocational schools/colleges, and community colleges in Colorado by assisting institutions with the development and management of secondary and postsecondary CTE programs. In this role you will provide leadership and expertise in the development and coordination of CTE curriculum and assist with the development of advisory committees and student organizations. You will coordinate training and mentoring opportunities for CTE faculty and administrators while facilitating content committees for secondary and postsecondary faculty to develop standards for CTE programs.

  • Review and recommend CTE programs for revision and renewal based on high quality standards that relate to quality indicators such as program of study, work-based learning, and student leadership organizations for secondary and postsecondary institutions.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with career and technical education faculty and administrators at secondary and postsecondary institutions. Ensure an effective communication plan is in place for the CTE Agriculture and Energy team.

  • Supervise and support the Assistant Program Director/CTSO Advisor in developing strong student organizations, which could include financial analysis support, event planning, and creating/maintaining industry and business connections. This position also supervises a Program Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

  • Bachelor’s degree in an agriculture, education, or a related field.

  • Three years of career and technical education administration (or equivalent leadership experience in agriculture or energy industry or business) or teaching experience in at least one of these fields.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado career and technical education credential (https://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/cte_generalinfo#10) .

Attributes that will contribute to success in this position:

  • Effective written and oral communications skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office computer applications, including Word and Outlook. Demonstrated understanding of state or local career and technical education.

  • Ability to manage projects and teams, especially curriculum design and program review.

  • Some experience in managing and planning professional development events preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with business and industry to identify partnership opportunities between education and industry.

  • Ability to think thoughtfully, plan proactively, build positive rapport, lead without direct supervision, take initiative and lead by example.

    Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • The position is located at 9101 E Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.

  • This position requires frequent travel in state to local schools, monthly meetings at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, and occasional national travel to conventions and conferences.

  • Frequent evening, overnight, and weekend hours.

  • Alternative Work Arrangements, including flexible schedules and hybrid-remote work, may be available. Work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
