Description:

We seek an experienced Project Manager to manage prioritized organizational IT development-centric projects. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are well-planned, executed efficiently, and delivered with high quality. This role will also support the Director of PMO in the development of the project management office for the organization. This will entail working with a hybrid project management methodology, collaborating with a business analyst, scrum master, business lead, and a small team of developers. Duties may extend from the IT-centric development to managing the establishment of the new business line as a project. The ideal candidate will be able to manage both the IT development effort and the overarching initiative, if required.

Reporting to the Director of PMO, the ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication and organization skills, is detail oriented, and possesses the ability to work in a highly collaborative, small-sized team environment.

Rate: $60 - $70 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of critical organization projects from scoping through delivery, working closely with stakeholders and the technical team to drive project planning and successful execution of complex enterprise software development projects.

  • Drive team-building and collaboration, taking a facilitative and partnering approach to developing team norms.

  • Coordinate the efforts of resources required to successfully implement project goals and objectives within the prescribed timeframe and budget, escalating when timeline and/or budget deviations are identified.

  • Employ appropriate and consistent project management processes, methods, and tools according to the project’s requirements.

Issue Resolution:

  • Identify significant risks and define/drive resolution plans, presenting solutions as a hands-on analyst,

  • including the articulation of impediments, risk analysis, risk mitigations, schedule, and budget impacts.

  • Proactively resolve routine and moderate scope issues, exercising judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action, and collaborate with the project team and other departments to resolve issues which affect the project execution.

  • Communication, Tracking & Documentation:

  • Communicate expectations and assignments clearly, ensuring understanding and working to build buy-in.

  • Manage and develop the project tracker and development workflow, including management of backlog/pending tickets, in conjunction with the scrum master.

  • Provide clear project communication to all stakeholders.

  • Ensure accurate, thorough project documentation. Assist with the development and distribution of reports and project documents defining project progress, issues, and solutions including but not limited to project plan, communication plan, risk register, project timeline, and high-level executive summary.

  • Work closely with the Business Analyst to plan and develop critical project and program documentation related to the application and related processes/workflow, including feature definition and scope.

Planning and Execution:

  • Coordinate and facilitate regular project reviews (including scrum sessions); participating in individual scrum planning meetings as needed. Lead regular/weekly meetings with the project team, as necessary, including development sprints.

  • Manage release planning and scheduling, ensuring execution of quality assurance.

Leadership and other:

  • Support and contribute to the development of the organization’s PMO, including providing input and feedback related to IT staffing, allocation, and tracking, and collaborate in the application and continuous improvement of project management for all projects. Leverage previous experience to understand the current environment and to challenge/expose areas of opportunity.

  • Assist in any necessary transition of project management duties.

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in technical project management.

  • 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in IT Project Management.

  • Understands coordinated workflow orchestration and SDLC.

  • Must be able to communicate with non-technical (business) and technical (development team) audiences

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) are a plus.

  • Familiarity with cloud architecture (Microsoft Business Dynamics ERP/CRM experience a plus).

  • Interested in and able to flourish in a mission-based organization where culture and values are paramount in importance.

  • Is a self-starter; embodies a thirst for learning and a curious nature.

  • Possesses a constructive attitude and a desire to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, utilizing a high sense of urgency, patience, and flexibility.

  • Experience managing software design and development in a test-driven environment .

  • Experience working on multiple projects with time sensitive deadlines.

  • Strong working knowledge of software development, Waterfall and Agile (Scrum, Kanban) methodologies.

  • Experience managing IT vendors.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Experience working in a non-profit environment is a plus.

  • Able to grasp business concepts quickly; general understanding of recycling industry is a plus.

  • Ability to manage all aspects of the project life cycle and to manage strategically through obstacles.

  • Understands technical scenarios and requirements.

  • A quick learner, with the ability to efficiently learn business concepts. Ability to learn new tools/technology

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a cross- functional team.

  • Possesses strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to productively engage with others at varying levels.

  • Able to work independently, or partner with technical staff with a collaborative, hands-on approach. Able to exercise independent judgment and act on it.

  • Must be highly organized, with attention to detail and commitment to clear documentation.

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills. Must be logical and efficient.

  • Able to adapt to a changing environment; comfort working in a fluid environment where requirements or processes may change.

  • Demonstrated planning skills with ability to think strategically, both short and long-term and prioritize.

  • Self-motivated with ability to stay focused.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
