Director, Office of the Chair Communications Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Leader to support the Office of the Chair. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and facilitating all internal and external communications from the Chair's office, ensuring consistent messaging, and upholding EY's brand and reputation. This role requires a strategic thinker with broad business knowledge, exceptional writing skills and the ability to capture and consistently deliver the leader’s voice, the ability to handle confidential information, a deep understanding of corporate communications, and the ability to manage high-stakes communications in a fast-paced environment.
The Opportunity
This leadership position reports directly to the Americas Chief Communications Officer and is a critical member of the Americas Communications executive leadership team. An understanding of EY’s business as one of the world’s “Big Four” professional services firms, knowledge of the major Americas markets, regulatory matters and experience in professional services or a Fortune 500 company communications environment is essential. We are looking for a leader with strategic abilities, creativity as well as a strong business intellect. The role requires a natural storyteller with a passion for innovation.
Your key responsibilities
Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to the US Chair/Americas Managing Partner and Americas Chief Communications Officer.
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that support the Chairman's objectives and the company's mission. By doing so, engage and inspire EY people across a large and diverse business.
Enable transformative change through the creation of strategic, inspirational, and authentic communications. Leverage innovation and analytics to ensure communications are audience-centric and impactful.
Prepare the Chair for media interviews, public appearances, and speaking engagements. Lead the creation of core content and materials including speeches, statements, bylines and briefing materials.
Work directly with the social media team on the Chair’s social media strategy and content.
Lead the development of internal communications materials including talk tracks for internal events and videos, and internal emails and messages.
Monitor media coverage and industry trends to advise the Chair on communication opportunities and risks.
More specifically, identify reputational risks and the ways they can be mitigated, working closely with the Americas Chief Communications officer, Americas PR Leader, Americas Internal Communications Leader and GCO on crisis and issues management.
Coordinate across Brand, Marketing and Communications teams to ensure alignment of messages across all platforms and leaders.
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
Manage the communications calendar for the Chair, ensuring timely and relevant content distribution and preparation for upcoming communications.
Develop and coach high performing communications team members.
Skills and attributes for success
Communications experience in a world-class global organization within B2B sectors, with 15 years+ experience in communications related roles.
Strategic thinking, specifically anticipate issues on complex and/or sensitive matters and bring solutions.
Proven track record of effectively managing and enhancing corporate reputation.
Experience with regulator matters and public affairs communications is beneficial.
Deep and current expertise in external and internal communications, and experience with sensitive communications and crisis.
Ability to manage key resources needed to execute and develops junior team members.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing strategic communications, preferably within a professional services firm or other large global companies.
Bachelor’s degree in communications or similar area or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree highly desirable.
Must have crisis communications experience.
Must have speech writing experience.
Experience supporting C level executives.
Other requirements
- This role requires travel throughout the US.

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $185,700 to $367,700. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $222,900 to $417,900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
