Principal Financial Group Managing Director - Global Head of Equity Research in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for a Managing Director - Global Head of Research to join our Equities team. In this role, you’ll lead and oversee a global team of equity analysts and their output!

  • Lead global research teams across sectors and in alignment with firm's overall investment strategy and goals

  • Responsible for overall strategy, quality, output and impact of global investment research, ensuring recommendations are actionable and optimize the firm's portfolios

  • Manage risk by incorporating risk assessment into research processes

  • Drive thought leadership, develop insights into global market trends and assess industry dynamics and global economic factors that influence investment decisions

  • Interact with clients and prospects to articulate research philosophy, methodology and outcomes. Participate in industry conferences and networking events to increase firm brand and exposure and to showcase talent and expertise

Who You Are

  • 15+ years of equity research experience in the form of portfolio management, analyst or related

  • Experience leading a team

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • MBA and/or CFA charterholder

  • Broad strategic thinker, demonstrate superior understanding of economies and investment theories, have a keen sense of curiosity and an open-minded thought process

  • Advanced organizational, communication, presentation and relationship building skills

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$226000 - $332000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

We’re open to considering in-office, hybrid talent, or remote. Locations for hybrid talent are Denver, Des Moines, New York, Chicago, or Seattle. In-office and hybrid talent are highly preferred over remote.
