Under minimal supervision, coordinates routine service and inspection of fleet vehicles and trailers by systematic selection. Performs scheduled and non-scheduled repairs. Minimize repair costs by implementing preventative maintenance and competitive price shopping with our associated vendors. Maintains all repair and inspection records. Keeps the work area clean and organized.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Repairs and maintains Fleet Vehicles by diagnosing them correctly, using the correct parts, and completing the repairs in a timely fashion.
· Maintains all records of repairs/inspections per regulations. Maintains work area in compliance with the Company Policy and Department expectations.
· Anticipates routine maintenance requirements, schedule vehicle downtime with the Ops Team, and coordinates outside vendor repair scheduling.
· Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
· Performs occasional Roadside Assistance in the Metropolitan Detroit area when needed
Basic Qualifications:
· Education is equivalent to graduation from High School or GED.
· Certified as a mechanic by the State of Michigan.
· CDL Class A license with Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsement preferred, but not required.
· Must be able to complete all Pre-Hire requisites, including physical, drug screen, and background check.
· Must be flexible with the work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Demonstrates a general knowledge of DOT Regulations as it relates to vehicle safety and compliance.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer literate, with a basic knowledge of software programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
· Must be able to work efficiently and independently. Demonstrates ability to manage own time and schedule to get work accomplished and meet the department's needs. Identify specific activities required to accomplish objectives, rank them in order of importance, and coordinate and take action to achieve desired results.
· Demonstrates the ability to persist with a specific course of action. Must be willing to commit the necessary time and effort to complete work assignments and do a quality job.
· Demonstrates the ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, organized, and diplomatic manner; listens to others to respond effectively to ideas and questions.
· Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and ability to review work for accuracy.
· Demonstrates the ability to create and maintain a high level of professionalism, confidence, and accountability with the department and upper management.
· Demonstrates the highest level of Company ethics and values at all times.
