As a Team Leader, Payroll, you’ll lead a team of individuals who perform a variety of payroll and tax processes at the team member and organization level. You’ll lead, mentor and coach team members on performance, production and day-to-day tasks.
About the Role
Support and communicate the strategic direction for the payroll team set by senior leaders
Assist senior leadership in communicating, implementing and monitoring objectives and key results (OKRs)
Monitor the day-to-day operations of the payroll function from start to finish
Assist with tax preparation processes
Update payroll process, timelines and expectations documentation as needed
Run reports for leadership to assist with tracking strategic goal accomplishment, including measuring objectives and key results (OKR) effectiveness
Partner with senior leaders to optimize existing payroll processes
Stay up to date on payroll regulations and assist in implementation and communication of process changes as needed
Partner closely with internal teams such as tax, finance, compensation and legal to tie threads across the organization
Communicate and embody the culture, vision and overall direction of the team
Manage team member performance through clear expectation setting, holding team members accountable and administering/completing the performance evaluation process
Develop team members through conducting regular 1:1s, sharing feedback and providing resources and training as needed
Train new team members using training plans and by assigning mentors
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices through attending professional workshops, reviewing professional publications, etc.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
3 years of payroll processing and tax experience
Demonstrated and trusted ability to make decisions and think critically through an escalated situation with little to no guidance
Ability to deliver feedback to leaders across the organization
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, accounting or related field
2 years of leadership experience
Fundamental Payroll Certified (FPC)
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
