Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan VP of STEAM, Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship in Detroit, Michigan

The Vice President of STEAM, Financial Literacy, and Entrepreneurship is responsible for providing, developing, implementing, and leading all programs under the following three Girl Scout pillars: STEAM, Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship. This position will work with the Chief Program Officer to create a yearlong sustainable plan for these three program areas, and provide strong and impactful programs and experiences for girls of all scout levels. The Vice President will report to and work alongside the Chief Program Officer to ensure that programs are comprehensive and lead to strong skill and portfolio building.

The Vice President of STEAM, Financial Literacy, and Entrepreneurship will work with other members of the program team to ensure alignment with larger council goals and streamlined efficiencies. This role will also work closely with the Chief Program Officer on the delivery of curriculum and programming for the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan's (GSSEM) Mobile STEM Center. This includes providing program oversight for scouts, usage by school districts as a means to supplement curriculum and aligning it to the existing program structure.

 

Program Leadership

  • Research, plan, and implement programs across STEAM, Financial Literacy, and Entrepreneurship for girls that align with the Council's overall strategic plan and the department's yearlong goals.
  • Develop and implement a yearlong plan for all three areas based on strategic objectives, while being conscious of budget/grant needs, staffing structures, and partnerships.
  • Manage contracts, deadlines, and deliverables for programs by working with the program specialists for each area (STEAM, financial literacy, entrepreneurship) to achieve positive outcomes aligned with department plans.
  • Plan programs from start to implementation including review of goals, providing information on current state of the work, strategic planning, and evaluation/feedback.
  • Monitor performance of all programs and determine needs for improvement based of outcomes, grant requirements, and girl needs.
  • Work with Chief Program Officer to provide recommendations of efficiency enhancement (systems, funding, processes, procedures, staffing).
  • Ensure that all three program areas have a wide range of programs that target every Girl Scout level and community area - including being able to build on programs each year for additional knowledge for all girls.
  • Help create a plan, curriculum, and programming opportunities for the GSSEM Mobile STEM Center, including strategies and management of field trips, interactive classrooms, and day camps.
  • Provide detailed updates and strategy changes (if needed) to the Chief Program Officer.
  • Manage relationships with partners and vendors to ensure sufficient and positive program needs, resources, and services for girls.
  • Work with the marketing and communications team on submitting requests in a timely manner for all programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

     

Funding Management

 

  • Develop a budget to present to the Chief Program Officer that is comprehensive and parallel to yearlong goals, strategic plans, and GSSEM priorities.
  • Create and track budget and grant line items against program implementation and costs.
  • Provide reporting information for all programs to the Chief Program Officer and Fund Development team, including all evaluation details from multiple stakeholders (GSSEM, facilitators, participants, community members, families).
  • Ensure that program specialists are submitting program evaluations for programs tied to budgets and grant reporting.
