Howmet Aerospace Tooling/NRE Program Manager in Dover, New Jersey

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Toolin/NRE Program Manager to join our Casting Facility located in Dover, New Jersey. This shift will be primarily 1st shift but must have flexibility to work off shift hours.

    JOB SUMMARY

    This position will be connected to the metrology department ensuring each program meets or exceeds original customer and internal program commitments (delivered on time, within budget, at target cost and expected yields). This position will also aid in the planning of meeting customer committed milestones for tooling & qualifications by working closely with engineering. Additionally, this position will be responsible for cross-functional management of the plant’s Tooling/NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) deliverables which includes creating monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, and detailed and hands-on tracking with stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions

  • Support a detailed execution plan working with the engineering team members and metrology department team members

  • Maintain detailed action lists for all programs and working closely with the engineering and operational teams to ensure they are completed on time and within the budget communicating any delays during daily meetings.

  • Identify gaps and/or risks to the program and drive mitigation plans to avoid delays or unnecessary expenses

  • Conducting regular reviews with all stake holders, both internal and external, regarding status, pending action items, recent developments, and needs.

  • Utilize electronic tracking system to team members work collectively to complete the necessary tasks on time, and deliver on time to required completion dates

  • Ensuring that any disconnects between team members are resolved in a timely manner by driving conflict resolution.

  • Elevate critical path issues to the management team if desired results are not achieved

  • Forecasts, manages, and tracks plant Tooling/NRE deliverables.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Lead and manage cross-functional aspects of tooling & qualification program schedules internally and externally

  • Works closely in conjunction with Engineering, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, and Production Planning internally to meet milestones

  • The program manager will report out the status to Engineering management

  • The program manager will be expected to contribute to the delivery performance through best practice identification/formulation, validation, documentation, and communication. Also, they will lead the lessons learned process for each completed project and incorporate into systematic improvements and future results

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Business-related discipline

  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written & oral communications skills

  • Presentation skills

  • Experience with launching new product development programs, including working directly with the customer.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and create project plans. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the customer and/or management.

  • Program/project management experience is preferred.

  • Significant experience in investment castings (engr. and/or mfg.) strongly preferred.

  • Ability to think through complex development projects and identify gaps in plans, risks and opportunities with the confidence to elevate when necessary.

  • Experience managing a new product development portfolio.

  • Must be self-driven with outstanding organization skills, self discipline, and an acute sense of urgency.

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a matrix organizational structure to leverage shared resources and complete programs on time.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Word.

  • Stong interpersonal skills.
